The Secret to Great Abs is...

Really no secret at all.

YOU MUST EAT CLEAN UNTIL YOU HAVE THE RESULT YOU WANT! AND THEN KEEP EATING THAT WAY!

By "clean", I mean 100% nutritional discipline for as long as it takes to the desired result. There are no short cuts or quick fix solutions. You simply cannot "microwave" your way to a great set of abs. You have to put in the proper amount of preparation, time, and dedication to achieve great results.

In the modern age of "one touch" fixes, taking the time and effort to get achieve great results is totally lost on most people. Despite all their efforts to find short cuts, they will never achieve the result they want because it requires something they don't possess...DISCIPLINE!

OK. So I've said it. You are what you are and nothing more. You are fat because you are lazy. No point in sugar coating the truth. If you don't want to be fat, then do these things...

  1. Be disciplined. Where you mind goes your body and how it looks will follow. If your mind is attracted to junk food, so is your body and ultimately you will give in. You MUST have mental strength to change your physical appearance.
  2. Accept the fact that you are fat and it's your fault. Stop blaming genetics. You are an adult (most of you) and you are responsible for your own decisions and choices. Therefore you are reaping the reward you EARNED.
  3. Change your mindset. Most of my fat clients have a victim's mindset. "I'm fat because..." BS! You are fat because you ignored you God given common sense to choose healthy foods and exercise at a challenging level all or most of your life. You CANNOT get something for nothing. You have to be mentally prepared to pay the price. If you only pay a little, you get only a little. The more you put on the line, the more you will get back. Simple.
  4. Forget the bell curve. The bell curve doesn't apply to anyone accept losers. Don't settle for "acceptable norms". That's a bunch of weak kneed, pencil necked nonsense. It's easy to be lazy. Moderate success often comes without much work. Hell, anything is better than just griping and complaining about being fat. But to gain true success, you have to ignore the jealous masses who are afraid of achievement. That's right. Let me say it again. People are afraid of success. I once trained an LPGA top 20 player who purposely lost because she was a afraid of interviews. She believed that 2nd or 3rd place was good enough. I thought this was ludicrous. She could have won at least 5 or 6 times that year. Amazing how fear holds us back from our true potential.
  5. Be different. Mix up your training routine. In fact, forget about routines. Get OUT of the gym to train. Incorporate unconventional movements into your exercise program like sandbag cleans and perform then at a challenging level. OR, instead of going out for a nice 5K jog, go to the nearest field and perform a 100 meter/yard sprints, walk back to the start line and repeat 10 - 20 times OR you legs collapse. Trust me. There is no comparison! The sprints will DESTROY your entire body! You'll know what a workout really feels like.
  6. Get a foothold on the fundamental elements. Mechanics are essential to developing a solid fitness foundation but with the multitude of movements available it will take time to master each. However, with a qualified and well experience performance coach, you can make dramatic improvement in just a few sessions and in many cases as little as a single session. Perhaps the most crucial element is consistency. Consistency in mechanics, training frequency, nutrition, hydration, and recovery. Developing a habit takes 30 days. So challenge yourself to be consistent for 30 days. And finally, there is intensity. Once you have a foothold of the mechanics and you are consistent with training and nutrition, then it's time to up the ante. The purple, foam covered 3 lb dumbbells you've used for every aerobics you ever attended aren't going to cut it. You've got to move relatively heavy loads over a long distance for a duration that causes you physical and perhaps mental fatigue. Simply put..you have got to get tougher.
Follow these 6 steps and you will achieve you goals.
